Born in Colorado but raised in Oregon from the age of 2, Ian grew up in a 1913 Foursquare in Northeast Portland. More than three decades later, he still calls that part of town home today. He’s been lucky enough to adventure around the world visiting extended family as far away as Hong Kong, and more recently exploring Europe and Thailand with wife Bri – he was especially struck by how warm and friendly the people of Asia are, and loved sampling all the delicious street food! Nevertheless, Ian still gets excited to see the trees and mountains every time he comes home.

After a childhood spent disassembling and smashing old electronics, Ian earned a degree in Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering from Oregon State University that led directly into a sales engineering position for a local affiliate of a national design manufacturer for automotive and electronics. He enjoyed having the opportunity to connect with new people on a regular basis and do something different every day, finding that he was a very good listener and also adept at interpreting people’s needs and priorities. A few years in, he and Bri went through the homebuying experience (with Chylese as their agent!) and he found the process fascinating (if also nerve-wracking!) As they settled into home ownership and remodeling projects, he found himself intrigued enough to decide that a pivot into a real estate career would be a rewarding one, and also play to his personal strengths.

When not touring houses or negotiating on behalf of clients, Ian enjoys spending time outdoors. Hiking or running trails with Briana is a favorite pastime, to keep him in shape chasing after his two young children. Daughter Jade was born in 2022 and son Knox was born in May 2024, so there’s never a dull moment! When not wrangling toddlers, Ian also loves playing both indoor and outdoor soccer… and catching a short nap whenever he can.
