Chylese Austin

Owner and Managing Broker

Cell: (503) 703-3303
[email protected]

Chylese hails from a small town in Massachusetts and spent a full decade in San Diego after earning a B.A. in French & International Relations from UMass Amherst. Twenty years ago, she chose to make Portland her home because it felt like one

Chylese’s early career in technical sales supporting the semiconductor industry refined her writing and negotiation skills. But after twelve years in corporate sales, she was ready for independence, and was quite simply in love with old houses.

Chylese has proudly built her real estate business from scratch; over ten years, she affiliated with three different brokerages, each of which taught her something important but lacked some measure of adaptability. So, in 2013, she co-founded a brokerage on Portland’s inner east side, which became very successful. After five years, Chylese decided that the west side needed its own locally-grounded and focused alternative. With Lark + Fir®, Chylese provides a holistic approach to both connect with her community and help others find their own path to success, which requires outstanding customer service, up-to-the-moment knowledge, app-saaviness, and creative confidence. These tenets make up her mantra of “concierge services.”

Her other passions include her husband’s solos on the soprano saxophone, promoting bilingual education, walking her dog around Gabriel Park… and finding new ways to keep her tween-aged daughter off the iPad.

Cydney Ferguson-Brey

Broker

Cell: (971) 319-0678
[email protected]

Born and raised in Hawaii, Cydney is a third generation realtor. She grew up herding people around family open houses, and helping her grandmother repair and manage rental properties. Raised to the profession, she took some detours through art school, residencies abroad, a motorcycle dealership job, and several teaching gigs before coming back to the fold. Somewhere on her travels she was joined by Ichabod, her trusty rescue Boston Terrier sidekick. With more than a decade as a Realtor under her belt, Cydney loves the endless variety of the job, and takes great pride in the details of every transaction. She lives in a 1929 traditional, with a solarium, a fireplace, and a whole 1970’s nautical themed bar in the basement.

When she’s not ogling architectural features for clients, she usually has her nose deep in a book; she finished around 65 books in 2020! Her reading goal for 2021 is for half of her reads to be physical books. Otherwise it’s knitting, Dungeons & Dragons, and a startling number of houseplants. Cydney’s biggest motivation is buying her dog more yard space and better sweaters, and hiking remote trails in faraway countries.

Heather Jenkins

Broker

Cell: (503) 515-1548
[email protected]

Heather began her career in real estate because she and her husband have built, remodeled and sold over ten of their personal homes throughout the years. She has a lot of experience and embraced the idea of helping people successfully get through their own real estate adventures.

Heather is a member of The Sister Team, along with Tess Wood and Teri Nelson. The Team was founded by Teri and her sister and evolved to include members of the family and passionate brokers like Heather. With the founding members of the Team heading toward retirement, Heather and Tess have moved to Lark and Fir to give their practice room to grow at a local firm.

Before her foray into real estate Heather lived in Rome, Italy with her sister for several years where she became fluent in Italian. After returning to Portland State University she got a BA in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology (and more Italian). She used her personal connections and love of the Italian language to establish a small import store bringing Italian artisans’ sense of pride and craftsmanship to Portland’s Pearl District.

Practically an Oregon native (since elementary school), Heather, her husband and giant cockapoo dog Coco now live on Portland’s lower east side. Although they are empty nesters, they are fortunate to have their kids and granddaughter in town. When not working on real estate deals she loves to travel, cook, entertain and dabble in art & interior design.

Ian De Kalb

Broker

Cell: (503) 913-5470
[email protected]

Born in Colorado but raised in Oregon, Ian grew up in Northeast Portland and still calls it home today. He’s been lucky enough to have been around the world visiting family in Hong Kong and  trips with his family growing up and now on new adventures with his wife.  He especially loved visiting Asia because of the warm people he met there and  all all the delicious street food  but still gets excited to see the trees and mountains every time he comes home.

Ian enjoys spending time outdoors either hiking or running the trails with his wife Briana and his malamute Russell or camping with friends and getting away from civilization. When not in a pandemic Ian also loves playing both indoor and outdoor soccer.

After disassembling and smashing old electronics as a child Ian attended Oregon State University and received a degree in Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering before moving on initially into a sales engineering role right out of college. He enjoyed the ability to connect with new people and do something different every day while realizing that he was pretty good at listening to people and understanding their wants and needs.

For the last seven years Ian has been working in the craft beer industry helping his family operate the award-winning Laurelwood Public House & Brewery. His focus was primarily in production planning and logistics by making sure that beer was made on time and went to where it could be enjoyed by the most people possible. From helping write the brewing schedule, to working the canning line stacking cases of beer on pallets,  and finally serving it to customers in the pub he managed to gain experience in every aspect of running a business. His favorite part was interacting with customers and helping them try new beers and flavors for the first time. When not working he loves to travel with his wife Briana. After going to Thailand for their honeymoon in 2018 they both would like to go back to Asia when international travel is safe and open again. His favorite part of their trip was visiting an elephant sanctuary where he got to feed elephants sugar cane and give them a mud bath! The cities, people, and food made Thailand a special place and they can’t wait to explore more of it in the future!

From the very first moment I could actively practice real estate I have enjoyed providing service and expertise to my clients and also fellow Realtors. This business never gets “old” there is always something to learn and a new friend to meet!

Extensive experience in Buyer and Seller transactions, property representation, and all phase of residential marketing/purchasing including single family, condominium, new construction, relocation, short sale, foreclosure, bank-owned, and land.

Main concentration and my passion lies in guiding clients through each and every step of their sale and/or purchase. There is never a question too insignificant, and I make it my priority for each of my clients to feel well informed and confident in their real property choice.

Originally licensed in Chicago in 1978, moved to Oregon in 1979 where I was licensed in OR that same year. Most recent association has been as a Principal Broker/Consultant to the Owner of a local luxury real estate firm. Prior to this I founded and for a decade+ was Principal Managing Broker/Owner of a successful boutique real estate firm on the Oregon Coast. Before the coast I was affiliated with a couple well-established firms in the west Portland and Lake Oswego areas. I was also a co-owner of a private property management company overlapping my early real estate career. I practiced as Property Manager/Owner in the 80’s and 90’s purchasing, building and managing single family properties in the SW Portland areas of Burlingame, Multnomah Village, Hillsdale and Garden Home.

In my free moments I enjoy; being a Masters swimmer (for decades), gardening perennials, my French bulldog pup, a very close-knit family of my 3 amazing adult children, their spouses and my grandkids. I tremendously appreciate exceptionally designed architecture and look forward to traveling again soon. Lastly and highly important, I believe in kindness.

I am very happy to affiliate with Lark + Fir Realty and look forward to serving you!

Tess Wood

Broker

Cell: (503) 568-3863
[email protected]

Tess is a Portland native, born in the building that is now known as the Adidas headquarters, raised in South Portland (formerly SW). Not everyone enters into real estate as their first career, and Tess was no exception. Despite growing up in a family of realtors (mother, aunt, and two cousins), she was determined to forge her own path. Nevertheless, after earning a BA in Film and Advertising from Portland State University and studying abroad at the Glasgow School of Art she was drawn back into real estate.

Tess was introduced to real estate at a very young age. She helped her mom, Teri Nelson, show homes by remaining calm in her carrier, usually atop a kitchen counter. After a few rebellious years, she fell in love with photography and began shooting her mom’s listings. As her passion for architectural photography grew, so did her interest in working side-by-side with Teri and Mary (the original Sister Team) in the world of real estate.

In true Pacific Northwest fashion, Tess loves the outdoors and food.  Coincidently, so does her husband Chip and their trusty side-kick Steel, a long-walks-only Siberian husky. Tess loves to cook and experiment with new foods, Chip loves to eat, and Steel is a very good boy when he hears the cheese drawer open. The three adventurers enjoy camping, hiking, and kayaking.

Steve Stuth

Marketing Specialist

Office: (503) 977-7776
[email protected]

This creative and analytical fellow enjoyed an “elevated” childhood up in the Rocky Mountains (at over 6,000 feet above sea level.) Having now lived in the Pacific Northwest for 6 years, he has chosen to make Portland his home.

Steve’s career in real estate began early, where he managed the marketing and branding for a 30-person real estate team at a national franchise firm (including over 16 expansion teams.) His bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Western Washington University complements an unmatched initiative and passion for helping small businesses get their voices heard.

Having immersed himself in a wide variety of local northwest industries spanning real estate, marketing, and event coordination for the last several years, he is proud to represent his adopted community. Being the son of a pilot, Steve has had the amazing opportunity to travel to over 30 countries. Along the way, he discovered the importance of celebrating diversity and now strives to use all social channels to give others a meaningful voice.

Steve joined L+F to be our brand representative to the surrounding Multnomah Village business community and more generally provide content direction for the company’s social media and overall branding. He also loves helping our agents feel comfortable using industry platforms to connect effectively with their spheres, prospects and clients.
