L+F Partner Profile Series: Todd McAllister – OnStage

Todd McAllister, Owner/Professional Stager – OnStage

Meet the effervescent Mr. McAllister,  the owner of OnStage, our preferred local staging company that creates beautifully curated and customized interior designs to give homes a competitive edge in an increasingly crowded market.  In particular, we have found OnStage to be both versatile and adaptive, indispensable attributes in a city where architectural styles and home scale truly run the gamut. Every home is a custom fit, and their designers are collaborative, not autocratic! Recently, we caught Todd in-action while staging our Garden Home listing and he was nice enough to answer a few questions for us (action shot above – super sweet answers below.) Thanks, Todd!

How long have you been doing this work?

I have been staging for about 17 years.  We have literally staged thousands of houses, so many in fact, that we have staged the same houses twice years apart.

What do you love most about what you do?

What I love most about my  job is the instant gratification of transforming a house into a home. It’s taking the chaos of the beginning stages of the sale preparation, meshing it with the design details to get an amazing outcome.

What is your best trait or ability?

I love connecting with the client/s on a personal level.  It’s fun to hear their story of where they have been in life and where they are heading. It’s very gratifying to be part of the process of helping them get to the next phase of their life.

Tell us about a really challenging job that you still managed to complete for a client. Why was it so challenging?

For me, one of the most challenging things about this business are not the homes, but the owners who live in them. You deal with a lot of different personalities and circumstances.  Many of the owners are emotionally attached to their home: they have raised their children there and have a hard time letting go. It is my goal to help them with this stressful transition by taking this one component of the selling process off of their plate so they can focus on the big picture.  Once I have gained their trust, then the fun begins. The end results are the most gratifying for myself because it’s taking a home they have lived in (sometimes for decades) and bringing to life for the next buyers.

Our industry resources are behind-the-scenes experts in their trades, who make our clients happier and our transactions smoother on a regular basis. We are so grateful for them. If you would like the contact information for any of our partners, please don’t hesitate to ask!
